Licences musicales au Danemark

Filling the space with the right music is one of the best ways to shape the atmosphere in your business. But there's one problem: playing music in your business isn't as simple as pressing play. In Denmark, any business looking to play music must get a performing rights license from Denmark's collecting societies: Koda and Gramex.

Komponistrettigheder i Danmark (Koda) is one of the oldest collecting societies in the world, dating back to 1923. Koda protects performance rights and distributes royalties to songwriters, composers and music publishers in Denmark. Koda also operates throughout the Danish Realm, providing the same rights protection to its' members in the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

Gramex was established in 1963. Like Koda, Gramex protects performance rights in Denmark, but they distribute royalties to performing artists and record labels instead. Although Gramex is an independent organization, Koda generally collects royalties on their behalf.

The process for music licensing in Denmark is, in most cases, quite simple. Music licenses are available directly through Koda's website. Just enter a few details about your business, including the type of business, how large it is, and when you want to start playing music on-site. After signing up online, Koda verifies your license and sends an invoice.
