Music licensing in Denmark

Streaming music in your business isn't the same as listening to music at home. When you play music for an audience with a business and commercial purpose, you need different licenses.

Soundtrack is built to bring you music that’s legal for your business. In most cases, everything you need is included in your plan. If you charge admission fees, play live music or timing music to exercise classes you may need additional permissions.

Change the way you play
Soundtrack offers an excellent selection of music because of our direct relationships with publishers, performing rights organizations and record labels. These include Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and more. Our technology accurately tracks your song plays, which ensures that music creators get the right payments from us. Soundtrack Unlimited makes royalty payments about 5 times higher than streaming services for private use.

Music licensing in Denmark
Filling the space with the right music is one of the best ways to shape the atmosphere in your business. But there's one problem: playing music in your business isn't as simple as pressing play. In Denmark, any business looking to play music must get a performing rights license from Denmark's collecting societies: Koda and Gramex. Komponistrettigheder i Danmark (Koda) is one of the oldest collecting societies in the world, dating back to 1923. Koda protects performance rights and distributes royalties to songwriters, composers and music publishers in Denmark. Koda also operates throughout the Danish Realm, providing the same rights protection to its' members in the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Gramex was established in 1963. Like Koda, Gramex protects performance rights in Denmark, but they distribute royalties to performing artists and record labels instead. Although Gramex is an independent organization, Koda generally collects royalties on their behalf. The process for music licensing in Denmark is, in most cases, quite simple. Music licenses are available directly through Koda's website. Just enter a few details about your business, including the type of business, how large it is, and when you want to start playing music on-site. After signing up online, Koda verifies your license and sends an invoice.
