Musiklicensiering i Colombia

Musiklicensiering i Colombia

Playing music in your business in Colombia means dealing with two collecting societies: SAYCO and ACINPRO. The good news is they work together, so you don't have to negotiate with each one separately.

SAYCO (Sociedad de Autores y Compositores de Colombia) is the country's authors' rights society, representing songwriters and composers. It came together in 1945, when a group of figures from Colombian theatre and music set out to defend creators' economic rights, and was granted formal legal status the following year. Its first president was the composer Lucho Bermúdez.

ACINPRO (Asociación Colombiana de Intérpretes y Productores Fonográficos) represents performers and phonographic producers — the people and companies behind the actual recordings. Authorized as a collecting society in 1982, ACINPRO makes sure performers and producers get paid whenever their recordings are played publicly.

Since 1985, SAYCO and ACINPRO have collected together through the Organización Sayco Acinpro (OSA), which handles licensing for businesses open to the public. That means Colombian businesses can apply and pay in one place, at www.osa.org.co, instead of dealing with each society separately.
