Musiklicensiering i Estland

Musiklicensiering i Estland

Estonia's music licensing involves three collecting societies, but you'll only ever deal with two of them: EAÜ, plus either EEL or EFÜ depending on the kind of business you run.

EAÜ (Eesti Autorite Ühing) has represented Estonian songwriters, composers and publishers since 1991, right around the time Estonia regained its independence. It represents more than 6,000 Estonian rights holders directly and, thanks to agreements with sister societies abroad, around 5 million more worldwide.

EEL (Eesti Esitajate Liit) represents performers, the musicians and singers behind a recording, while EFÜ (Eesti Fonogrammitootjate Ühing) represents the phonogram producers and labels that made it. Which of the two you contract with depends on your sector, not on the music you play.

So Estonian businesses always need an EAÜ license, plus one from either EEL or EFÜ. Tariffs vary by type of premises, and EAÜ publishes a fee calculator you can use to estimate what you'd pay. It's worth checking with each society directly to confirm exactly what your venue needs.
