Music licensing in Guatemala

Streaming music in your business isn't the same as listening to music at home. When you play music for an audience with a business and commercial purpose, you need different licenses.
Play it right
Soundtrack is built to bring you music that’s legal for your business. In Guatemala, almost everything you need is included in your Soundtrack plan except for a public performance license.
Recording rights
Allows you to stream a specific sound recording of a song
Publishing rights
Allows you to stream the original composition
Change the way you play
Soundtrack offers an excellent selection of music because of our direct relationships with publishers, performing rights organizations and record labels. These include Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and more. Our technology accurately tracks your song plays, which ensures that music creators get the right payments from us. Soundtrack Unlimited makes royalty payments about 5 times higher than streaming services for private use.

Music licensing in Guatemala
Music licensing in Guatemala means dealing with two organizations: AEI for the songs, and AGINPRO for the recordings.
AEI (Asociación de Autores, Editores e Intérpretes de Guatemala) represents Guatemalan and international songwriters and publishers, negotiating on their behalf with the businesses, broadcasters and venues that use their music. It's a non-profit, authorized as a collecting society by Guatemala's intellectual property registry in 2007, and it collects license fees for public performances and distributes the resulting royalties to its members.
AGINPRO (Asociación Guatemalteca de Gestión de la Industria de Productores de Fonogramas y Afines) covers the recording side. It represents the labels and companies that made the recordings, and under an agreement with MUSICARTES (Sociedad de Artistas de la Música y Obras Audiovisuales), which represents the performers on them, AGINPRO issues a single license covering both. That means one payment rather than two, with the proceeds split between producers and performers.
Rates depend on the kind of establishment playing the music and are reviewed periodically. Get in touch with AEI and AGINPRO directly to confirm what your business needs.
